How To Determine If Your Jack Is The Issue
Determining if your jack is the issue is not always obvious. If there is physical damage – bent or broken pins, the jack is cracked or the jack is missing it is very easy to to determine that the port is bad. When there is no physical damage it can be frustrating figuring out what the issue is. Here are some common scenarios where chances are your device needs the port replaced.
- You replaced the USB C charger for your Lenovo laptop and it still doesn’t charge, light up or turn on.
- Your XBOX Series X USB ports do not charge the wireless controllers.
- The charging jack on your Alienware only charges when the power cord is held at a certain angle.
- There no display out on your Playstation 5.
Repairs That May Cost More
While most port level repairs will cost as stated above there are certain times when this is not case. This is usually not the case but we do try to be as transparent as possible, especially with repairs that are mailed in and we cannot see ahead of time.
When your device will cost more:
- Additional damage to board under the port. Ripped pads and traces will incur additional fees to repair. Damage of this nature usually happens when there is a prior failed repair attempt. In rare instances we have seen this sort of damage when the port has experienced extensive impact, like if the unit falls while plugged in.
- Some USB-C parts may cost more. Some brands like Lenovo, specialty gaming laptops and exotic / limited edition devices may have unique ports. If this port cost more than our standard ports you will be obligated to pay the difference if you wish to have your device repaired.
When in doubt email us at support@logisticsct.com and we can provide you with a more exact quote. Provide the model number of your device and any other pertinent information. If you know there is damage on the board send clear up close pictures of it.
